Harris County, TX, September 19, 2024, Today Harris County Commissioners approved the Fiscal Year 2025 budget proposed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). They formally approved tax rates for the Harris County general fund, the Harris County Toll Road Authority and the Harris County Flood Control District.
“Setting the budget and tax rates is one of the most important responsibilities we have on Commissioners Court. No budget is perfect, but the budget we passed today will help us invest in critical priorities like mental health care, reducing our jail population and getting violent criminals off the streets. Thank you to Director Daniel Ramos, our Office of County Administration, our county departments and my colleagues for helping us pass a responsible budget that reflects the values of Harris County,” said Judge Lina Hidalgo.
The FY2025 budget reduces the County’s general fund deficit while aligning spending with the recently adopted countywide strategic plan. OMB worked with almost 90 County departments and divisions in preparing this budget.
A full version of the FY2025 budget is available on the OMB website.
