Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo Shares Emergency Preparedness Resources at Community Town Hall

Harris County, TX, September 30, 2025, In recognition of National Preparedness Month, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and local emergency leaders today hosted a town hall on emergency preparedness. During the town hall, panelists discussed topics including how to prepare for chemical hazards, fire safety, alert systems, pets, supporting the most vulnerable, and preparing for large-scale events like the FIFA World Cup.

“It’s such an important part of my job to help guide the community during emergencies that I wanted to have a check-in and make sure the community knows even though there’s not an emergency right now, we’re not taking anything for granted. We are always preparing for the next disaster, and we will need the community’s help if and when disaster strikes again,” said Judge Lina Hidalgo.

The other town hall panelists included:

  • Mark Sloan, Harris County Homeland Security & Emergency Management Coordinator
  • Jeff Lindner, Harris County Flood Control District Chief Meteorologist
