Harris County, TX, September 1, 2026 - Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo released the following statement as Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall along the Texas coast this afternoon:
“Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall earlier this afternoon. Our Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management has been activated at Level II: High Readiness since 8 am this morning with numerous first response partners, and we will remain activated until the weather clears our area and the threat passes. We are not totally in the clear yet, so that means tune into the news and make sure your phone alerts are turned on. This type of weather is nothing new for us here in our region, so I know everyone will continue to do their part and continue to pay attention to the latest updates. I appreciate all of our partners for working around the clock to make sure we are prepared, and I appreciate the public for listening to our warnings so we can get through this together,” said Judge Hidalgo.
